Dear Forum Members,

Does anyone know or can recommend anyone that is able to repair visor/crusher caps? I need to have the visor partially re-sewn and the sweatband sewn back into place.

Many Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,  I know that there are some guys on the WAF who do the work on German caps that need help. The problem is that it's expensive and you would quickly exceed the value of the cap. A typical crusher in good/average shape is $200?

Perhaps a shoe repair guy could resew the leather visor or whatever needs sewing for a reasonable amount.

Many thanks for your advice.  I have a rare English made crusher which I was able to secure for a reasonable amount, so I can spend a bit to restore it.  It needs the visor sewn into the hat in the middle where it came unsewn, but still attached to the cap, and needs the sweatband sewn back into place.  I know the visor needs to be sewn back first, then the sweatband.  I would love to have someone who restores hats work on this for me. I am kind of scared to give it to anyone not specifically used to working on collector caps.

This will need to be hand sewn. Some shoe stores might be able to help. Saddlery is a better option or a good seamstress. I would expect $85/hr and 1-2 billable hours. ABN

You could learn to sew it on yourself, it’s not that hard.
