mvmhm Posted November 6, 2024 #1 Posted November 6, 2024 A large group came to me Friday afternoon from the step daughter of a retired Air Force Technical Sergeant who served from 1956 to 1976; no one in the family wanted any of it, and she didn't want to throw it out or send it to Goodwill. The majority of his career was as an Air Policeman / Security Policeman, with the last few years cross-training into the Civil Engineer career field. He served in Japan, Formosa (Taiwan), Germany and two tours in Vietnam. There's no uniforms, but there's his medals, interment flag, a bunch of paperwork, and three photo albums. Two cover his assignments in the orient and Germany. The third album was from Vietnam, but all the photos have been removed except for 8 photos he took up close of dead VC during Tet. I still haven't finished going through the paperwork, and she has another box yet to bring in. I'll post a few of the more interesting things. It took a good hour of repeated cleanings to get decades of nicotine off of everything that had been on the wall. Mark sends

Marshallj Posted November 8, 2024 #15 Posted November 8, 2024 “The first Air Force sentry dog school was activated at Showa Air Station, Japan, in 1952. In 1953, the second school was opened at Wiesbaden, West Germany. The Army continued to train and supply sentry dogs to Air Force units in the United States until the Sentry Dog Training Branch of the Department of Security Police Training was established at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, in October 1958.” (Source: https://www.37trw.af.mil/)
