hzamar Posted November 3, 2024 #1 Posted November 3, 2024 When did the AF switch from the large command patches to the smaller version? I've tried to search it on the forum but I am probably typing in words that don't match the posts that would help. Thanks, Herb
Scott C. Posted November 3, 2024 #2 Posted November 3, 2024 My first operational assignment out of USAF pilot training in early 1984 was in MAC, and we were wearing the smaller size patch then. Many MAC C-130 crewmember back then also wore a 1/4-size MAC patch hidden underneath the full-size patch that said, "Lil' MAC" for Little MAC.
Randy Posted November 4, 2024 #3 Posted November 4, 2024 The 4" to 3" sizes to MAJCOM patches occured about 1970. Of course, it took a few years to get everyone compliant. The ANG in particular, some guys wore the larger one to the late 70s. Randy
hzamar Posted November 5, 2024 Author #4 Posted November 5, 2024 Cool. Thank you for the responses. I've always wondered when the change-over occurred. It's always cool to find an old fatigue top with the big, color, command patch on it.
