Miniature naval pilot badge 2cm

Hi. Can anyone suggest where this would have been worn please? It's about 2cm in length. Many thanks

The screw and nut arrangement suggests a cap badge.  I've seen pics of WWII USN pilots wearing them on overseas style caps with their rank insignia opposite.

As small is this is, with the threaded nut, I would think that it was designed to be worn on the lapel of a civilian suit coat. Two cm would be REALLY small for a cap device and is smaller than what is usually seen on USN and USMC o/seas caps..
