Martynmoose Posted November 1, 2024 #1 Posted November 1, 2024 Hi. Please can anyone suggest whether this is an original or otherwise? Many thanks.
Justin B. Posted November 1, 2024 #2 Posted November 1, 2024 This is probably a better place to ask: RANKS AND RATES: MARINES

Did the Marines ever make blue stripes? They look like some sort of police stripes. I know a couple of US “New England” police forces wear red backed stripes on their uniforms. But don’t remember which ones. I’d love to know.
Martynmoose Posted November 1, 2024 Author #5 Posted November 1, 2024 Hi they are actually light green but difficult to show in pics.

themick Posted November 2, 2024 #7 Posted November 2, 2024 Those stripes are a green color, and rather common on WWII dress uniforms. Different than the issue ones with the cut-out wool stripes, these chevrons are private purchase ones, and were fairly common during the war. There is also a similar style for the dress blues, same type of stitching but in yellow. Nothing wrong with the OP's stripes. Steve
