Martynmoose Posted October 28, 2024 #1 Posted October 28, 2024 Hi I think that this is a good original jacket with original insignia but with added 2nd division patch (WW2 or repro) and a ww2 American Defence ribbon (ww2) added and the original stripes lowered to accommodate the patch. The jacket is dated 1974. I think the other ribbon and the fourragère may be contemporary with this jacket? I would really appreciate others feedback on this please? Many thanks for your help

Many thanks for your help If the jacket is dated, 1974, then, this is a put together. The insignia is all wrong I don’t do Marine stuff, but the shoulder patches were dropped in 1947, the rank insignia was changed in 1959(?). Not sure what you’re asking.
Martynmoose Posted October 28, 2024 Author #3 Posted October 28, 2024 Thank you. I want to restore it to a 70s jacket. I've removed the rank stripes, patch and ribbons and ordered some correct stripes to put back on. The lower stripe on the arms appear correct as they are machine stitched rather than tacked on as the others were. I can see where the original ranks were and look like they are lance corporal size. I'm leaving the fourragère as it looks good, but don't know if it is correct one? Thanks for your help

Martynmoose Posted October 28, 2024 Author #5 Posted October 28, 2024 Yes I think someone has used it for reenactment.
