General Apathy Posted October 22 #1 Posted October 22 . This evening I received a late night call from forum member ' Escht ' ( Kevin ) based in the UK to inform me that our long-time friend ' 517th ' ( David / Tudor ) had been tragically killed in a train crash in Mid-Wales returning home from a holiday in Italy with his wife. Tudor and Rachel were around ten kilometres from home when the train they were travelling on crashed into the rear of a stationery train on the track ahead of theirs. There was one fatality and fifteen passengers injured, the one fatality was ' 517th ' ( David-Tudor ), it is not known yet if he was killed during the crash or died of a heart attack brought on by the crash, he was around 58 years of age. Tudor is the driver in two of the following three photos, the third photo shows Tudor on the set of Band of Brothers kneeling next to my daughter. a sad evening with the loss of a great friend. lewis. ...

General Apathy Posted November 9 Author #17 Posted November 9 . Forum member ' ESCHT ' ( Kevin ) emailed me earlier this evening and has kindly allowed me to share his comments here. Just back home from Tudors funeral. The largest turnout I've seen at a funeral, lovely service in Welsh and English ,place was packed with another 50 plus of us standing outside listening and watching on a tv screen. I managed to spend time with Rachel and pass on how much Tudor was liked and respected by the many that at some point got to interact with him via his love of history. A hard day for sure but nothing compared to what Rachel is having to deal with. Tudor would have been so proud of her today. . . . . . Kevin. A few more words from another email Kevin sent me this evening I thought worth sharing. We were outside with a view of the screen, although cloudy it didn't rain. It was a dual ceremony in both Welsh and English and boy can those local lads sing, echoes of Rourkes Drift in Zulu. Thank you Tudor and Kevin, Ken ...
Escht Posted November 10 #18 Posted November 10 This was sung as last hymn, the video shows the land of his birth and a land he was so proud of. Wales.
arnhem44mad Posted November 25 #19 Posted November 25 Omg I just found this thread. This is heartbreaking. I visited Tudor's home and few years ago and bought quite a bit off him. He was a lovely guy and his wife was an absolute Welsh Gem. Such a shame! Scott

Back in the 1990's Tudor and our other friends did a lot of work together for magazines and film-work with our collections. The image of Tudor in his overcoat was used around that time by Dragon models and they produced a 1/6 scale model of him dressed in his overcoat as he was in these photos. ( sadly I have been unable to find a photo of the Dragon carton featuring Tudor. ) regards lewis. ...
