Simon Trew Posted October 15, 2024 #1 Posted October 15, 2024 I hope some people find this interesting. It is a original copy of the 82nd Airborne Division official report on the fighting in the 'Bulge' in December 1944 - January 1945, plus operations in the Hurtgen in February. According to the distribution list, 620 copies were printed although the number of recipients in that list is 635, so maybe it was a few more. This one appears to have belonged to a Sergeant Martin in the division's HQ Company (the distribution list allocates two copies to that sub-unit, so this is possible). In addition to the title page, there is a preface (1 page), the Division commander's report on operations (9 pages), a chronology of operations (18 pages including casualty details and information about enemy losses), a distribution list, and nine maps (mostly color). The maps cover operations in December, January and February. As you can see, the front cover is a little battered but the contents are clean and in good condition.
manayunkman Posted October 15, 2024 #2 Posted October 15, 2024 Not easy to find. I had the complete set at one time and I think I posted them here before I let them go.
Persian Gulf Command Posted October 15, 2024 #3 Posted October 15, 2024 Wonderful Item! Certainly, was used/carried extensively soon after the events it detailed.
