stratasfan Posted September 22 Share #1 Posted September 22 Hi! Any idea what the significance to the gavel and purple stone on this Veterans of WWI pin is? So far, I've not found another. Thanks in advance!
KevinBeyer Posted September 27 Share #2 Posted September 27 The gavel would signify that the person served as the President of the Organization, normally for a one year term. Smaller organizations would possibly have members serve consecutively until they decided to step down, or they lost the latest election. The gemstone most likely represented whether, or not, the person served at the local, state, or National level if the organization was striated like that. The only sure fire way to know is to track down a copy of the Constitution & By-Laws and hope there is a section on INSIGNIA. As it turns out, there might be a copy of the By-laws at a university down the road from me. If I get the chance, I'll see if I can't drop in and check. No promises! stratasfan Posted September 28 Author Share #3 Posted September 28 Hi, Kevin! Thanks so much for the info! I wondered if the gavel was going to be for the Chair (President makes sense). You are a wealth of info! :) Elizabeth
