Katsup Posted September 20, 2024 #1 Posted September 20, 2024 Hey I fairly recently acquired this nice SRU-21/P that seems to be modified with a built in harness, from what I've seen with the help of the attached post it *may* have been used by 160th SOAR or maybe an Apache crewman but its not definite. Right now I have the contents from my other SRU-21 I bought at the same time that had most of the contents. Though I still need a few things like the survival vest manual and survival manual, pocket knife, sheathed knife, vest holster, and some other small pieces.
RMEAV8R Posted January 6 #2 Posted January 6 I flew Army helicopters from 1984 till 2000. The sewn in harnesses started coming on line in the late 1980's for different units throughout the Army, they might have started with the 160th but were used by many others also. I was at Ft Campbell in an Attack Battalion and I had had a modified vest in 1987. I flew in Attack units and they were fairly commonplace there, especially if you were in an airborne division that had parachute riggers that could modify the older versions of vests.

That is something I saw a bit in my references. AH-64 and UH-60 crews mostly from what I saw. I think it is very interesting, and I am pretty happy with the one I managed to get. I assume you would've gone from the SPH-4 to maybe even the HGU-56? Or if Apache I think IHADSS was the same throughout that time.
