manayunkman Posted September 21, 2024 Author #30 Posted September 21, 2024 Well my buddy found a small notebook with some writing and photos of this Marine. His name is on the first page. As soon as I get home I will post it.
manayunkman Posted September 21, 2024 Author #31 Posted September 21, 2024 Here is Cecil some time after the war 1930-40?
manayunkman Posted September 21, 2024 Author #32 Posted September 21, 2024 I think this photo was taken in Michigan. Maybe before he shipped out.
manayunkman Posted September 21, 2024 Author #33 Posted September 21, 2024 Another photo taken in Michigan with one of his buddies and girls.
manayunkman Posted September 22, 2024 Author #34 Posted September 22, 2024 The book is about the size of an index card with a name and address on the cover and a fairly large name on the inside of the cover. The real name of owner of this helmet.
manayunkman Posted September 22, 2024 Author #35 Posted September 22, 2024 A warning to the wise but as soon as I read it I couldn’t wait to dig in.

October 16, 1918 after the brigade had come off the line at Blanc Mont where they suffered horrible casualties. He participated in the Meuse Argonne battle. Absolutely fantastic helmet. When my friend and I talked about this I mentioned how important any paperwork, photos, etc were. He translated this to the family and the notebook showed up. The family has informed him that they found some other things so I might have something next Sunday.
conn Posted September 24, 2024 #42 Posted September 24, 2024 great job you are doing, great understanding of the family keeping this grouping of history together, semper fi
