I recently purchased this item which is clearly theater made but I'm not sure where. I'm thinking British or maybe German but I honestly don't know. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

The numbered collar brass that you are showing is German made from the immediate post-WWII Occupation period. I showed a couple of different examples in the WWII Airborne Numbered Officers' Collar Brass thread.

Of course not! Though there is a pinned thread on numbered collar brass.

I would say this style is the most popular with collectors (at least they are with me).  Hallmarked Meyer Metal with a shield.

Another posting in the forum identifies your type as german made.
