mattdus Posted April 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2009 I picked up a few things yesterday and thought that you all might like to see that there are still things to be found in the surplus shops nothing overly special but I am happy with it. the 1942 dated meat can and utensils came as a group in the meat can pouch, the knife is dated 1945 and the fork has been stamped "J27*" I cant figure out the last number maybe a really messed up 3 or 8. The bayonet is marked U C and the US and flaming bomb but has no date, when did they stop date stamping them? The first aid pouches came with the packets, the one with the metal packet is in good shape but well worn while the other is shot, the snap appears to be a poor repair job and is torn but was cheap and came with a packet that I wasn't sure of the date but figured I would take a chance as it was cheap (it turned out to be post war). everything fork marking the fork has a dark color to it, almost looks like it had been blued, can anyone give some insight on this?
