I’m interested in this Winchester M1 Carbine. Description states “SN: 1206821. Made in 1943 with an 18-inch barrel chambered for the .30-Carbine cartridge. This gun has a ""W"" marked barrel & a flat bolt. It underwent an arsenal level service life extension rebuild after WWII & now has a Type 3 bayonet lug barrel band, an M2 magazine release, a flip safety, & stamped adjustable rear sight assembly. Overall condition is very good with a dull gray phosphate on the metal parts. Comes with an oiler & a USGIsling. Consignment”

Does this carbine spark any red flags with anyone or would this be a good example of a late ww2/korean war rebuild? Price is $1800 which seems a bit high but I’ve heard Winchester’s are one of the more desirable ones. hopefully there’s a little wiggle room with the price. Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

FWIW: The Winchester is no where as nice as the Inland your looking at. Definitely a post war rebuild. My suggestion to you is that if you're wanting to collect M1 Carbines get some good reference books if you don't already have them. None of them are 100% correct but are helpful as to how and when the carbine was made and the parts configuration. Not knowing your location, a very good place to find carbines is at the OVMS Show of Shows in Louisville, KY next February. Several reputable collectors will be there with excellent carbines, garands & 1911's.

I’m located in Pa so unfortunately I can’t drive down there. Yeah I’m definitely aiming more towards the inland carbine. I’m not aware of many gun shows here in Pa but I’m still gonna look around and call. If not, would that inland make a good one?

If York, PA is near you or within driving distance OVMS has the MAXX Show there Sept. 19-20. Never been but probably worth checking out. The Inland realistically is a $1500 gun at best. Would ask for pics of the internals TH, slide, bolt etc. before committing. If they're not willing then I'd pass.

What is your budget gonna allow. I've been collecting for 50+ years and have a lot of contacts. I could put you in contact or have them contact you, either way.

Anywhere from $1000-$2000. I will definitely be asking for pictures of the parts

Hey man, I asked about the price of the inland and they said they can do $1600. If was originally $1850. Is that worth it?

Do they have any idea or have the muzzle measurement? If not, $1600 is more like it. I'd still offer $1500. The worst they can say is NO.

I can ask them for a measurement. What measurement should be correct for it?
