Trying to identify this medal and its value. Any help would be much appreciated!

Its German. It says in the arms, top to bottom: XXV / jahrige / dienste / 1882.

in English: 25 / years / service / 1882.

I think the center figure of the Medal has something to do with 1882.

My thought it is it Hessian (a German state). (does the lion have a sword?)

but without the ribbon probably worth somewhere around $50 to the right person.
