Just had this ww2 Majors Bullion Rank delivered (I presume I have the rank right. Gold for Major,Silver for lieu Colonel?)

A R Fabb started life in Victorian times. I think they only made things like this rank insignia for a short period during ww2.

They still exist as a company though no longer family owned, making bullion masonic regalia.

That is great.  The label answers all the other questions we would have had.

Must of been difficult and a real pain to sew on a collar or a pair of them on the shoulder loops.

Imagine how difficult it was to make Patches.

Indeed, no denying, it is exquisite.

Fabb Brothers is still around, around since 1887.

That's right mate. They moved to Maidenhead in the forties. They did close for a brief period but we're bought by a couple of free masons to continue making masonic regalia.

Fabb used to supply a lot of braided items to the Japanese, Turks and India.

I know at one point they made mess dress para wings for the UK etc etc
