Mk IV ocean mine color

Hello, new member here.

 

 I just purchased a pair of mk IV naval mines, I believe they were repainted at some point and most of the paint has peeled off. Does anyone know what color they would have been? I was thinking haze gray? 

Were these mines removed from the ocean at some point after being set? I thought these had not been used by the tag says they were charged on October of 1918
