Its always nice to find AECo senior and command pilot wings.  They were probably made during the war or just after.  Remember, most WWII-trained pilots would not have reached the requirements for the senior pilot rating until the KW time period and the command pilot rating until after the KW.  So, the VAST majority of the senior and command pilot wings would have been made well after the end of WWII.

Although American Emblem Co lasted in business until the 1960's, it seems that they stopped making USAAF wings after WWII.  Some rumors have it that they got caught marking non-sterling items with "sterling" assay marks and got in trouble with the Inspector General.  But while you do find AECo wings from WWII, I do not think I have seen and USAF, post KW wings.

So, all in all, if you wanted a nice WWII vintage senior pilot wing, AECo is one of the ones to seek out.

Thank you for the comments gentlemen.

Im guessing that the way the pins are attached, its WW2.

They seem soldered and not electro soldered.

And besides the hallmark, what appeals to me is the lined support for the star.

Its a nice looking wing as opposed to some that are open below the star.

I was glad to get this one!

it is a classic.  As I said, I don't think AECo made many wings into the post WWII era.  There are a few good threads on these.
