Jennings Lane Posted August 3, 2024 #1 Posted August 3, 2024 John Verser Conner, Jr. (b. 1924 - d. Jan 6, 1945) Exceptional WW2 KIA Pilot Grouping at Louisville, Kentucky estate sale. I saw this today, August 3,2024 at the sale. As of closing it was still available. John Verser Conner Jr. A very nicely done portrait [Approx. 3' x 4'] His named medals. [DFC has a bit of glue residue on the back], wings, bullion wings Theatre made unit patch, misc. patches and insignia. Letters and supporting documents. Photographs and more. It is my understanding that Conner was a P-47 pilot. Went down in January of 1945 over Italy. I'm told that his parents commissioned the painting after his death. It has been in the family ever since. Same with his medals and more. There's more pictures on Cellar Doors Facebook page. Cellar Door Estate Sales 502 445-4322
themick Posted August 4, 2024 #2 Posted August 4, 2024 Hard to believe that this grouping was still available at the close of the estate sale. It must have been priced really high. Usually something like that would be gone in the first minutes of the sale. Steve

Conner was a fighter pilot, the quality of the painting, the supporting documents and the provenance I feel it was worth the price asked. I could see it at OVMS for $3500. or more. The sale continues today.
