Mr. Scratch Posted April 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2009 I found this ring amongs a jumble of old mid-century costume jewelry, and as usual I am clueless. What first reminded me of a cross atop a tombstone (an unlikely badge if ever there was one), I can now see that it is supposed to be the bow of a ship, with the "cross" likely some sort of mast. Below are the initials OSC. Does anyone know what this might be for?

craig_pickrall Posted April 1, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 1, 2009 Are there any markings inside the ring?
Mr. Scratch Posted April 1, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted April 1, 2009 Are there any markings inside the ring? No. Looks to be some kind of local/theater made item.
JLENG Posted April 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 2, 2009 OSC stands for Oregon Ship Building Corporation. They built Liberty Ships during WW II. I have a lapel pin with this design. World Champion Liberty Ship Builders September 1943 is stamped on the back of the pin. I would catagorize it as a production award. John
