Great pickup(s). Love the Japanese helmet. Those are hard to come by

The bombardier group has several things going on, first is the story behind how it came my way.

As many of you know I go to flea markets every Sunday.

This one market has a guy who comes in regularly and few of the vendors don’t like him because of personality differences.

I never felt that way about him and spent time chatting with him every weekend.

This Sunday morning he comes to me all excited saying “you’re not going to believe this, this is incredible, wait to you see what I found, you’re going to love it”, so we go out to his car and the trunk is sitting on the back seat.

This group was found because I would spend time swapping stories with a guy who for some reason decided to sell his amazing yard sale find to me.

He said that he drove down a dirt road for miles thinking about turning back each second of the way.

The family was closing the estate and there sat the trunk with this label on it.

Started by going through the paperwork of which there is quite a bit.

Found this photograph in a fold up V for Victory stationary desk.

I don’t know if Edith is his girlfriend but hers is the only photo in the entire group.

It looks like this officer entered military service sometime before December 1943.

He went to flight school and trained on PT-19s.

Here is his Pilots Log from those days

After a month or so in flight school he went on to bombardier school.

Here are some papers relating to that, there are much more than these.

The 1929 meme of the baby was found in the middle of his papers.

Too many paperwork pictures?

No, not too much. I once had a grouping from a bombardier that included tons of paperwork. Fascinating stuff!

His dog tag from when he was an enlisted man in 1943.

His wife’s name is on it which is different than the one in post #4.

There is nothing here that that gives any information about his history as an EM and I couldn’t find anything about him on line other than a copy of the Groups history with a mention of him in it.

His discharge papers.

He served for over 10 years when you combine active and reserves.

There are quite a few requisition slips, turn in and sales receipts, more than photographed.

As soon as he got overseas he took a navigation course and passed.

He flew missions as a bombardier during this time.
