The Norsid Company got its start in NYC in 1931 as a small manufacturer of novelties targeted at colleges, fraternities and sports teams. It was owned and operated by the Deutsch family of Long Island. Sidney Eugene Deutsch was the president and his brother Harold Norman Deutsch was the primary silk screener (according to his occupation in the census). It is likely that the name Norsid was a portmanteau of Harold's middle name Norman and Sidney's first name. Examples of their early wool pennants with early tags from the 1930s can still be found online.

During the war, and according to an article published in 1951, The Norsid Company, which was located at least since 1935 at 17 E16th St and later on Spring St in Manhattan, made "jewelry and identification pins" for the armed services.

Following the war, Norsid bought out a bankrupt tool and die company with a unique threading product based in Yonkers, NY in 1948. They relocated business and family to Yonkers and changed the name of the business to The Norsid Manufacturing Co, Inc. The business continued to expand into novelty products for political campaigns, advertising companies, colleges, fraternities and sports teams. They were one of the largest producers of silk screened water transfer decals and "bumper stickers".

It is unclear how long the Norsid company lasted. Sidney Deutsch died in 2003 at the age of 93.

Great historical research and really appreciate you putting on the forum!

Also, you confirmed what I have always believed, that NY marked Norsid wings can be considered WWII and just after. Those marked Yonkers (I’ve see a few) are definitely post WWII.
