Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for ways to display patches.

I've currently got most of mine (I keep a 1SSF and 45th ID patch on my office desk) in an album book, however in between the plastic sleeves is a non-removable piece of white paper.

I would prefer to keep them in a book with heavy duty plastic sleeves so that I can view both the front and the back of the patch, and sleeves that hold together well enough that the patches don’t slide around.

any advice or recommendations is welcome

I use baseball card sleeve sheets, and they come in various sizes like the postcard size for some of the AD SSI. I know a lot of collectors hate that method and swear by putting them all in riker cases but like you I too want to see the backs. I'm sure there's tons of methods and just really depends on works best for you.

In the 70s and 80s I had mounted my collection on quarter inch plywood, 3 feet by 4 feet, with a clear coating on top.  I attached the patches with a double-adhesive tape (demolition tape) to the board.  To show my collection, I made a framed box with thin Plexiglas (when it was cheap) to cover the board.  I also labeled each patch and that took some time to do 12 boards.

I ended up going the cheap route and got a binder and multiple sizes of baseball card sleeves.

I like to be able to see the backs of the patches as well, so this was a good solution for me. Here’s how it turned out

Hi everyone

Just couldn't resist anymore and got (sucked into) collecting WWII US SSI as well (next to British and Belgian named medals and WWII German paperwork).  As a paper collector the issue of storing is rather important given the sometimes brittle and fragile state of the items. So care has to be taken to keep paper in acid free sleeves without "softeners" in the plastic and preferably out of the light so they are still "alive" in say 30 years.  I was wondering if that is actually an issue with (long term) collecting of patches as well and,  if anyone takes this into account when choosing display method or not?

Thanks for your opinion/advise for this newbee patch collector!

I've used sleeves from "We R Memory Keepers" which come in different pocket sizes and are pvc and acid free. They can be found on Amazon and Ebay. They also make faux leather binders that are decent quality - better than the cheap ones you normally find at an office supply store.
