I posted this on the "What's It Worth" section and thought my questions might be better asked here.

My post title is what I think that I have and I am not at all sure of the value.  I believe that it might be a target or training penetrator dart, it is 19 inches long and weighs

8Lb's. The tail fins a some sort of nonmagnetic alloy and hard enough to ring when you snap them.  2/3's of the body is magnetic, the top 1/3 lightly attracts a magnet

and has to be a different material than the bottom 2/3's, the tip of the dart looks like it has a joint.

Any coaching would be greatly appreciated, Thanks...

Nice, getting hard to find. Notice the fins- not a common “ cone fin” used to reduce range. You can search the TM for more information, yours I believe is made of “ Staballoy” , a DU substitute.

This is actually a 105mm M735 variant, not a 120mm. The darts consists of a steel nickel body, which houses a tungsten core and is fitted with an aluminum windshield and fin assembly. Under the aluminum windshield/tip is usually some type of mix incendiary metal material like zinc/titanium. The rear shows the M13 tracer, it's assembled in the fin and held in place by a threaded plug and disc assembly.

I will add your example ( a 105mm) was at one time back in the 80’s/ 90’s found in a few Army surplus stores. At the time I think they were selling around $110. Here is a current one for sale.

“Selling off some collectibles and thought to post this here in case there is an interest.

Per the specs when I purchased it years ago: M1 Abrams tank APFSDS penetrator dart. Armor-piercing, fin-stabilized, discarding sabot. Sub-projectile darts belong to the U.S. made, 105mm M735 APFSDS-T round. It is the first type classified and adopted U.S. 105mm APFSDS-T round for the M68 riffled gun used on the M1 Abrams tank. It has a tungsten core and measures 18.75" and weights 8.4 pounds.

Makes a cool doorstop or general display piece bound to start conversations. LoL.

These are pretty hard to find these days. I could only find closed auctions pre-2020 so I'm asking $300. Not looking for any trades. Local pickup in Seattle.”

More on Penetrator rounds. Keep in mind yours is the 105mm variety that was surplused out .  The 120mm Penetrators were not surplused out, harder to find. My 120mm example with aluminum petals was a range pick up from Germany.
