Stressman Posted June 20, 2024 #1 Posted June 20, 2024 Has anyone on this forum ever seen any information on an experimental aluminum-bodied Mk II grenade feasibility study that was apparently conducted by the US Ordnance Department at the end of WWII? I have been scanning through the 180 pages of grenade-related posts on the British Ordnance Collectors Network (BOCN) during the past several days, and I stumbled upon two mentions of this feasibility study. They did not appear to know anything about the program, but they claim to at least have heard of it.
Rifleman Posted June 22, 2024 #2 Posted June 22, 2024 I posted this here in 2016.It is a well made grenade body. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/271539-mkii-aluminum-body/#comment-2185555
doyler Posted June 22, 2024 #3 Posted June 22, 2024 Could these been for a die or casting piece for a mold? Often you have to cast an item or make a pattern and just thinking these maybe were used in making molds? Maybe reach out to the US ARMY ORDNANCE Museum at Fort Lee. Maybe they have records or a historian who can access the information
