artu44 Posted March 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2007 This morning the postman brought me this pouch I spotted on austrian ebay. It's the not common pouch for the big head wire cutter never appeared on US ebay in the last three years (I watch it everyday) so I bid an interesting sum on it to have it at any price. I ever thinked this big head wire cutter would be exclusively USMC but Robinb told me also the Army issued that oddity. This pouch appear unissued but stained from bad storage and it doesn't bear no stencils at all, no big US, no manifacturer's name, no date. Stencils didn't disappear, they never were there. So my question is : USMC or US Army? The first pic is from a 2004 Robinb's post on Gunboard, the second is a between the wars USMC pouch I got years ago and others show my new purchase. artu44 Posted March 29, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted March 29, 2007 Other pics. The colour is not the gold khaki of the pics but a greenish OD3.
craig_pickrall Posted March 29, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2007 Arturo, that pouch is shown in GOVERNMENT ISSUE COLLECTOR'S GUIDE by Henri-Paul Enjames as a variation of the normal Army Wire Cutter Pouch. The example shown is unmarked too. Quote PLEASE NOTE: THIS COMMUNITY MEMBER, SADLY, HAS PASSED AWAY Please click here to read the tributes to Craig

Greg Robinson Posted March 29, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2007 It's always been my understanding that USMC wire cutter pouches never used LTD fasteners. And I own a late war USMC pouch that has those distinctive extra bends to the cartridge belt hooks. Early/pre WW2 USMC wire cutter pouches will usually be that mustard tan color shade.
