CandaceStonestreet86 Posted June 15, 2024 #1 Posted June 15, 2024 What's the best way to display a boxed medal that belongs with a grouping? Most will fit nicely in a riker box but the air medal in it's coffin box won't. Any Ideas?
Airborne-Hunter Posted July 1, 2024 #2 Posted July 1, 2024 One guy I know uses double depth rikers and cuts out the batting. One guy I know takes shadow boxes and loops silk ribbon to hold the case down. He glues the middle of the ribbon down in the shadow box first and ties a knot inside the case and closes the lid to support it. He usually does two ribbons. Another guy just sets them in shadow boxes and doesn't move them. Another guy I know only displays the really most stellar groups and those he just dedicates a whole display case, part of a large display case or a really nice shadow box. He turns up alot of stuff and can only display the truly incredible. He usually stores everything else in really nice storage boxes. He probably has 100 medal groups he's found at markets and sales, but he pretty much only displays the DSC, NC, or SS groups. Or groups that are really rather unique.
CandaceStonestreet86 Posted July 1, 2024 Author #3 Posted July 1, 2024 Thanks Airborne-Hunter for the great ideas! I don't have anything too fancy yet, but what I do have I want to display/preserve well. You've given me something to think on!
jmar Posted January 8 #4 Posted January 8 I purchase the deep Ryker mounts and cut out the foam where the cases go. They drop in nicely and do not shift. This way the group stays together and displays nicely.
CandaceStonestreet86 Posted January 10 Author #5 Posted January 10 Yup, I have to agree, cutting out the batting is the way! I added some fabric to make it pop
