aladoughboy Posted May 27, 2024 #1 Posted May 27, 2024 A display of some of my collection. An 1873 Springfield 45.70 and an 1898 Krag 30.40.
MWalsh Posted May 27, 2024 #2 Posted May 27, 2024 Nice display and items you have there. Ammo for the 45-70 is an interesting area too, tinned rounds, variations in the ammo from years it was made, difficulty to find. It’s a lot easier to find the rifles than period boxes of ammo. The belts are nice pieces to go with the rifles. Well done.
aladoughboy Posted May 28, 2024 Author #3 Posted May 28, 2024 Thanks. I know it’s hard to find ammo for Trapdoor shooting lately. Krag ammo is both scarce and pricey!
MWalsh Posted May 29, 2024 #4 Posted May 29, 2024 If you want to shoot the Trapdoor this is what I would use. They make a good safe product and the price is good too, and they ship fast. This stuff is specifically designed for the Trapdoor. The stuff in stores which is current made and sold is not safe to use. This is. https://steinelammo.com/all-available-calibers/rifle-ammo/45-70-govt/45-70-government-405gr-rnfp-trapdoor/
