This is the round hill from the wash by the school house.  The natural dirt has a reddish hue. The fill dirt does not. It most likley came from the wash. Also note, nothing grows on the fill dirt.

The visit to the old adobe school house was interesting. The soil around it is super soft, It has a hundred thousand gopher holes around it in sand. Just walking on it was like walking on snow. Not something to take a horse on. The old well had an interesting construction. Its rock lined inside with a6 sided concrete wall above ground. The old photo shows a windmill pump at that location.
