I picked these up from an estate not too long ago. Veteran was a Lt Col. in the 3/12 Infantry, 4th ID in Vietnam and did 2 tours there. I think the veteran is still alive so I may try to reach out. One looks unused and the other is slightly sun faded and used. 
 

covers are identical. The left and right side say “Braves, 3/12,” lt col insignia on front, and back has his name embroidered on back. Which I will leave out for privacy.

 

Was this embroidery done in Vietnam? Both covers are dated 1969

Yes, the embroidery was done in Vietnam. Those are great covers.

Thanks! I figured it was done in country but had only seen it on caps and jackets before. Never seen it on a helmet cover.
