KurtA Posted May 8 Share #1 Posted May 8 Continuing to clean out the attic. Another one of my toys from the mid 1960's. Really great condition. Even has all the little spring-loaded bullets. The same Christmas, I also received a genuine WW2 .45 holster to put the Johnny Eagle pistol in. Actual holster pictured below. My uncle bought it in a NYC Army-Navy Store for $1 so I could have it along with the Johnny Eagle. I was SO disappointed to find the Johnny Eagle pistol would not even come close to fitting in the holster. The plastic gun is much different than the hard smooth metal of an actual 45. I made a point of saving the holster. Unlike most moms, my mom NEVER threw out my favorite toys (baseball cards, Hot Wheels, Matchbox Cars, trains, etc). She always told me they would be "collector items" one day and they should be saved. And that was in the 1960's before most people even thought about such things Link to comment
268th C.A. Posted May 8 Share #2 Posted May 8 I sold all my red line Hot Wheels years ago when they were hot. 27 Cars near mint in the case. $800.00 I thought I did very well, some track and accessories. The stuff has gone down in value like most collectibles. Glad they're gone. My German Gi Joe last year. You can't keep it all. Nobody in my family wants it. let it go... Nice pistol in your post! Yes. I hear toy prices in general have softened. One day I’ll sell my stuff. Or my heirs will. Link to comment
tarheeltim Posted May 9 Share #4 Posted May 9 How ironic, I had a Johnny Eagle Lieutenant rifle as a youngster in the late sixties. My mom also kept practically everything, but not the rifle. I just bought one off eBay and it arrived TODAY! I’m waxing nostalgic in my old age. Great looking toy pistol! Let me know if you decide to sell it. Link to comment
