USMC_COLLECTOR Posted April 29, 2024 #1 Posted April 29, 2024 Hello, a few months ago I painted my airsoft m14 to simulate a parkerized finish. The only problem is while using matte paint, it looks matte painted, not like a parkerized metal finish. Does anyone know how I can paint it to look like parkerized metal? I’ve seen some airsoft m14s in the past with great looking parked finish. I’ve seen the technique on g503, but I was hoping for one specifically for the M1 line of weapons. Also, is there a paint technique to show the oils of your hands like a really parked gun or magazine? Note the first magazine in my reference picture. Mine just looks like flat spray paint. Any help? Here’s my gun below And a reference gun to show the sheen of the metal
72psb Posted April 29, 2024 #2 Posted April 29, 2024 Check out Dura Coat Firearm Finishes. The have a product called Dura Park. Never used it, but it might be a start.
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted April 29, 2024 Author #3 Posted April 29, 2024 Ok thanks. Do you happen to know any techniques with regular spray paint? 9 hours ago, 72psb said: Check out Dura Coat Firearm Finishes. The have a product called Dura Park. Never used it, but it might be a start.
72psb Posted April 29, 2024 #4 Posted April 29, 2024 Sorry, no I do not. I have done phosphate/magnesium coatings (Parkerizing is a company name that developed the process) on motorcycle parts. The process is simple, prep is key. Hang in there, you'll get there. Semper Gumbi, Always flexible!

horsecavalry1885 Posted April 5 #6 Posted April 5 Brownell's Alumahyde parkerizing gray paint replicates actual parkerizing quite well. As mentioned, preparation is very important. Here are three replicas that I have painted using the Alumahyde paint.
