usmedalman Posted April 1, 2024 #1 Posted April 1, 2024 I came across this WWI Army of Occupation Ribbon with the NS Meyer maker stamped on the brooch. This pin is sitting vertically in the photo so the complete stamping is visible. The pin actually fits through the hole in the brooch. The clasp is a wide flat "C" style. Any thoughts on if this is a legit pre-1945 piece or something made for collectors? I know the wavy ribbon was changed prior to the first medal contracts, but since the WWII Victory medal and the various campaign medal ribbons were available a year or more before the first medals were issued I figure there is a good chance the same was true for the WWI Occupation medal.
KurtA Posted April 1, 2024 #2 Posted April 1, 2024 I think it's totally legit. I'd buy it in a second if I found it out in the wild. Probably the coolest WW1 occupation ribbon I have seen - love the maker hallmark and unusual open catch reverse.
