USMC_COLLECTOR Posted March 27, 2024 #1 Posted March 27, 2024 Just visited the Normandy D-Day museum in Carentan which includes the Experience museum and Dead Man’s Corner. I would suggest a visit from anyone who likes Airborne history and the events of the week of the D-Day campaign. They have an amazingly cool D-Day simulator in a real DC-3 that is incredibly well done and immersive, as you climb into like a paratrooper, take off, and land. You experience flak and the jumps in the plane are crazy cool. You then have two separate parts to the American museum, then the German part. Very incredible with all the names displays of veterans from all different paratrooper units and the pilots and crewmen that got them there Here are some pictures of the displays. And the address to the museum. 2 Vge de l'Amont, 50500 Carentan-les-Marais, France This museum, along with the Overlord museum are some of the best museums I have ever seen.
KurtA Posted March 27, 2024 #2 Posted March 27, 2024 Was there a few years ago. One of the BEST museums I have ever been in. That simulated C47 ride was amazing. When I exited the plane after being “shot down “ I almost expected to be in the French countryside surrounded by Germans.
danimal03 Posted March 29, 2024 #3 Posted March 29, 2024 Great pictures. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!
KurtA Posted March 29, 2024 #5 Posted March 29, 2024 Did you take a photo of their USN Beach Bn helmet collection? I sold my Beach Bn helmet to them a few years ago. Was curious if it was on display.

KurtA Posted March 29, 2024 #9 Posted March 29, 2024 Wow ! There’s my helmet! Top right in first photo in post 8. Ugo. Greco - 2nd Beach Bn. So great that I found that helmet in a flea market in NJ amongst a pile of junk and it made its way back to Normandy for all to see and appreciate . Thanks for taking and posting the photo.
