Starring "Sergeant Rock" and Siegfried the Kraut war dog

This unaired pilot for a series Fuller pitched to CBS about a U.S. infantry troop fighting its way through Nazi-held North Africa offers a fascinating new angle on Fuller’s relationship with the average foot soldier and moral complexity of war.

Prior to the making of probably his most recognisable and influential war film "The Big Red One", Samuel Fuller attempted to develop this premise into a television series. This 25-minute short is the pilot for the series. As such, a lot of ideas and concepts from that film are evident here. Everything from the sets to most of the staging and uniforms. The somewhat cynical and almost idyllic tone is also there in a lesser degree.

Director: Samuel Fuller. Cast: Luke Anthony as "Sergeant Rock" & Neyle Morrow.

Thank you for posting this. Was a great story.

I bet ya anything that it was rejected for a series because

of the dog situation. Sgt Rock even makes an SPCA comment. That prob did it.

lol.

I never saw this before and it was surreal with the Dog/ Observer!

And I think it would have made a great series.

Thanks again !
