CoyoteKyle Posted March 13 Share #1 Posted March 13 My next door neighbor's phenomenal grouping just came into my collection in exchange for a bit of manual labor, I thought I'd just share a few pics of them here. These German daggers were brought back by Captain Herbert Hart, my neighbor's uncle (I also have his Randall knife, which I posted under edged weapons). He fought with the 191'st Field Artillery all through France and was awarded a bronze star and a purple heart. After the war, he lived in Germany until 1953 serving with the State Department during reconstruction. Presumably, it was during this time that he collected these daggers. Titanfan Posted March 13 Share #2 Posted March 13 Remarkable group of veteran bring back daggers. I especially like the RAD leader dagger. I'd love to do manual labor for those kind of payments.
Bololo Posted March 13 Share #3 Posted March 13 The daggers wrere for the officers. "Arbeit Adolf" means "Work Adolf", I think. So is it somebody's name or the Fuhrer slogan?

JohnnyConroe Posted June 29 Share #13 Posted June 29 I like those KMs for sure! The one with the knot is sharp. The Type II Luft is a nice example too. Thanks for sharing.

Any German dagger with ivory handles is rare as they are usually made from celluloid.

The luftwaffe is celluloid, the kriegsmarines are celluloid with a wood core, and the RAD is a type of plastic called trylon. Kriegsmarine daggers sometimes had ivory grips, but while not impossible to find, cost a few times that of a nice average naval dagger. Rad daggers with ivory grips also existed, but are rarer than hen's teeth and few collectors have seen one.
Ironheart Posted August 28 Share #17 Posted August 28 My Uncle did bring one very rare SS Panzer Dagger back which had been special presentation one made for this Officer- the handle was bone with the SS runes and the eagle was inlaid with gold plated metal. I was supposed to get it when he died but his adult son, my cousin broke in and stole it to pay for his drug addiction. I wish I had photos of it. My Uncle from my mother's side Howard Frizzell ( and yes the country star Lefty Frizzell was my cousin here in Texas ) When Uncle Howard ran away from an Orphanage they were in he joined Royal Merchant Marines in 1938. He was underage to join the Military. In 1940 the ship he was on was sunk by U-99 and they surfaced to assist people into Lifeboats, gave medical, water, food. Captain Otto Kretschmer handed my Uncle an engraved Compass from the crew of U-23 to Otto and in perfect English said, "If we both survive this war I would like to have that back." and a few other things said...but I was child at the time my Uncle gave me the compass so I do not remember the whole conversation. In the 1980's I met Admiral Kretschmer by chance in the UK and asked if the story was true ( My Uncle was quite the boozer, and never knew if it was true ) and mentioned my Uncle gave me this old Compass. He was excited and said yes it was true and asked of it all. I informed him my Uncle did survive and then joined the US Army as a Member of the Blue Spaders landing 3rd wave at Omaha Beach, who fought on until wounded at Remagen. I asked if he would like to have the Compass back. The man teared up and was shaking. We made arrangements and I sent it to him in Hinte? Germany. Now, these days finding out what that personally engraved Compass was worth I could cry!!! He did send me a box of stuff from the early years in the Kriegsmarine. I still have some but some were lost in a fire back in 1996. Here is a pic of my Uncle All of my father's items from WW2, Korea and Vietnam, career in USMC and all our family photos were lost in this fire. Here is a photo of some of my Kriegsmarine stuff, not all of it is Admiral Kretschmer's things, I dumped stuff out of a storage tub and arranged it to take a photo years ago, but also to do some kind of inventory. But there is just too much junk in storage to sort through. Especially after the fire and throwing things together sorting what could be salvaged

Ironheart Posted August 28 Share #20 Posted August 28 Thanks, I have met a lot of veterans and was commissioned to do their portraits...so they would give me stuff to haggle my price down.
Ironheart Posted August 28 Share #21 Posted August 28 Who do I ask about showing some WW2 Posters and some art illustrations depicting some War scenes by famous artists I own to see if anyone would be interested in purchasing it? To list in Auctions take forever and the commission percentage is a killer. I put 3 famous pieces in Heritage Auction, lost half my investment and their commission rate will eat more of it. Plus it takes months to get paid. If you buy an item you have 10 days to pay for it, but when you sell an item it takes 3 months for them to pay you! Ironheart Posted August 28 Share #23 Posted August 28 I see my doctor in a few hours to find out if my Melanoma has turned malignant or not. If it is then I will be selling everything I have. (art, collectables etc) I do plan on selling a bunch of items anyway. You see there is a scam company called Mr. Cooper aka Nationstar who has over 10,000 class action lawsuits against them for buying properties that have a low mortgage balance remaining and a very high equity. My Mortgage was with Wells Fargo and had this house built 20 years ago and without any notification it was sold to this Mr. Cooper who intentionally forces people into a foreclosure situation. My monthly payments were 583 a month and they added another 1200 on top of which NONE of it goes to the interest or principle- it goes into their pocket under some BS of fees and insurance on escrow nonsense. I found out that they can legally do it too! Oh it gets worse, My property tax had been 3650 a year and the County raised it to 12,500 a year. I contacted them about that and was not given any justification. Oh it gets even more nightmarish, If I do not pay what is demanded then I lose my home. Here is the kicker...NO ONE ELSE on my block had their property taxes quadrupled. The house across the street is almost 1000 sq feet larger than mine plus they added another 800 sq ft and an inground swimming pool and his house in over 120K more than my home but his property tax is less than 9K a year. The house next to his is the exact one like mine and his property tax is less than 6 K a year. I am 69 have had over 65 exemptions and homestead. Now, also for 3 years in a row I have been denied my Social Security Retirement. I asked why and they have not told me a reason. Each time I have applied it has been denied. They also said if I wished to have Medicare it will cost me 499. a month. I was at the bank and the manager said this Mr. Cooper swooped into forcing a foreclosure on her home too. I spoke with a Real Estate Attorney and he informed me there is nothing we can do the State is allowing this to happen because they are working with NGO's to seize people's properties to rent to illegals at 10 to 20k a month paid by the Biden administration, then once they are done they will get rid of the illegals and sell the property and steal all my equity. I was hit with all this just in the last month. I have no income, there are no jobs in this area anyway for an old fart and now this Evil Company is intentionally trying to force a foreclosure. I have a massive art collection but the problem is that it takes forever to get it sold via an Auction. I sold 3 Paintings but still have not been paid. When you purchase from Heritage Auctions you have to pay it in 10 days. When you sell anything you have to wait 3 months to be paid. I have yet to be paid and its been 3 months and I had to submit those pieces 6 months in advance of the auction. Even if I placed all my collection up to be sold it will be over a year to collect the money and by that time I will be homeless! So yes, I will be selling off some stuff.
