AndrewHL Posted March 11, 2024 #1 Posted March 11, 2024 WWI US enlisted collar disc engraved on reverse. First one I have seen! Named to a dentist (who would likely have the tools to engrave) stationed at Camp Sevier SC. Neat!
atb Posted March 11, 2024 #2 Posted March 11, 2024 Difficult to read in the images. What does it say?
AndrewHL Posted March 12, 2024 Author #3 Posted March 12, 2024 Sorry! Started post and had to leave. The obverse of the disc is lightly etched WORLD WAR 1918 The reverse is engraved (cant make out one word) CA. Sevier SATC World War 1918 Dentistry 3 Medical Advisory Board April 30 Camp Sevier was located near Greenville, SC during WWI as a training camp. Medical Advisory Boards were under the auspices of a little known WWI Federal agency called the Council for National Defense. They were tasked with coordinating U.S. war production, services and transportation.
KurtA Posted March 12, 2024 #4 Posted March 12, 2024 The local S.C. connection to you is really cool, Andrew.
