gunbarrel Posted March 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2009 I have a "Surgical Instrument Kit, Minor Surgery" like this one (but in much better condition), which was sold last month on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250368664194 They are marked, as follows: Outside - Front Surgical Instrument Kit, Minor Surgery 9-577-650 Outside - Back U (caduceous medical symbol) S Inside United Surgical Supplies Co. New York, N.Y. U.S.A. The seller listed it as a Viet Nam item, but he didn't really know. Does anybody here know if it is a Viet Nam War item, Korean War, or WWII? Also, would it have been used by all branches, or is it specific to one branch? Thanks, in advance!
craig_pickrall Posted March 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2009 That kit shown on ebay is Vietnam era or newer. During WW2 Army kits were different than USN / USMC kits but I think by VN all branches were using the same parts.
DocRick Posted March 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 25, 2009 I have a kit like the ebay one, with the 12 digit stock number. It is a VN issue kit, used by my big bro, a Navy Corpsman, in VN. He gave it to me when I went to Field Medical Service School in 1979.
