KevinS Posted March 8 Share #1 Posted March 8 German flag captured by members of the 1st Section, C BTRY, 883rd FAB, 70th Div. The flag was captured March 21,1945 at Saarbrucken, Germany. One of the people signing the flag was Sgt Lester Glickman. He wrote his memoires down after the war. In his memoires are several photos of the 1st Section. He also describes picking up a Nazi flag and signing it with all the group members except for one person. Their lieutenant didn't want his name on the flag because he was afraid of repercussions if the Germans captured them and found the flag with his name on it. This flag doesn't have the name of the lieutenant on it so I think this may very well be the flag he describes in his memoires.
USCapturephotos Posted March 8 Share #2 Posted March 8 That’s a good one and I bet you are correct about it being the very flag described in the sergeants memories. I always enjoy seeing these signed ones. Paul
