Cpl. Punishment Posted March 2 Share #1 Posted March 2 Hello all, A sneak peak of a large group direct from the veteran’s estate. Stay tuned, as I will be posting it in detail once it is in hand! For now, I’ll leave these.
FT.Monmouth1943 Posted March 2 Share #2 Posted March 2 That was a killer group. Did you get any of the other lots?
Bullseye881 Posted March 2 Share #3 Posted March 2 There were some cool pieces in that lot, did you end up getting the special forces scarf he had? I won the uniforms & helmet covers that were sold in the first estate auction that they held for Mr. Smith, back in January. His time with PBR 593 was cut short due to shrapnel injuries he sustained in March of 69, which also ended his USN career.
Cpl. Punishment Posted March 2 Author Share #4 Posted March 2 I hate to admit that I did not see the SF scarf. I would love to see his helmet cover if you wouldn’t mind sharing!! I won boots, ribbon rack and what appears to be possibly in-country made necklaces, embroidered dress blues and a couple other sets of dress uniforms. I was hoping to get his TF-116 beret and sadly missed it. Otherwise, I got nearly all main components!

Bullseye881 Posted March 2 Share #8 Posted March 2 Here's the cover. Also, I'm not sure if the pockets he added on the shirt (converted into a vest) are supposed to hold 40mm shells?

Cpl. Punishment Posted March 8 Author Share #11 Posted March 8 a bit more of a sneak peak of the group! Stay tuned - the group should be in on Tuesday! I have been conflicted on what tiger pattern this is; I’d love to hear your thoughts!
River Patrol Posted March 10 Share #12 Posted March 10 It appears to be a known pattern called "Splotched".....I'd like to see a close up of the name over the pocket when you get the items.
Cpl. Punishment Posted March 10 Author Share #13 Posted March 10 I’ll be sure to get better pictures for you! Today, I spoke with a man who knew Wiley overseas and he told me he remembered Wiley writing his name in white marker on his uniforms. He also told me that a lot of the 593rd guys wore tiger stripes that they bought in Nha Be at a place that the sailors called, “Nha’s laundry”. There, there was a woman who was able to get tiger stripes to the troops and they would pay her to patch them up. 7 minutes ago, River Patrol said: It appears to be a known pattern called "Splotched".....I'd like to see a close up of the name over the pocket when you get the items. Cpl. Punishment Posted March 13 Author Share #14 Posted March 13 the group arrived! Pocket finds include a woman’s garter and a cigar from Vietnam. Looks like the fatigues were never touched since he shipped home. also of note, the last photo shows him wearing his fatigues with his name written in white ink. The tigers feel as though they’re starched and the shirt feels like it was not worn much.

Cpl. Punishment Posted March 30 Author Share #20 Posted March 30 Are a few others of the vet. The caché photo shows where his AK was taken from. His shipmates used AK’s and a sawed-off M2 carbine for searching junks/sampans.
