Ronnie Posted February 29 Share #1 Posted February 29 A friend brought me his Uncles footlocker last week before I went to the SOS. However I did not open it until tonight. Wow....I should have opened it earlier. Among other items there was a parachute that I did not recognize. It was Camo but Camo I was not familiar with. It didn’t look like our (U.S.) Camo. While describing it to a friend he said it sounded like a Luftwaffe chute. I went online and there it was. The one I have is complete with shroud lines. There was no bag for the chute. There were two what I thought were duffle bags that might possibly be for the chute but I never took those out of the footlocker. I’ll look closer tomorrow. At any rate it was a super neat find. As were two M41 field jackets. One with the sewn Captains Insignia. Plus other uniform parts and gear. Here is a photo of the chute.
zk4298militaria Posted March 1 Share #2 Posted March 1 The fact that you let a mystery footlocker sit for more then a day let alone a week baffles me, I’d be popping that thing open like a kid on Christmas morning the first chance I got! Show us the rest first chance you get, it’s already really nice.

Lots of stuff that is more important than this stuff. Don’t get me wrong. I still love the hobby but I guess my enthusiasm isn’t what it used to be. Bodes Posted March 2 Share #5 Posted March 2 The German fahne is a Reichsdienstflagge (National Service Flag)....These would have been flown over government buildings such as post offices.... I have a German parachute my veteran neighbor gave me....It's still in the bag, but he cut the harness off and kept all the metal fixtures from it including the aluminum quick release harness buckles....These were inside a German M38 gas mask can he said he carried his shaving stuff inside....Nice find!....Bodes

Ronnie Posted March 2 Author Share #7 Posted March 2 Somewhat better photos of the two m41’s. You can see that these jackets are different shades of O.D.
Big Iron Posted March 6 Share #8 Posted March 6 Very cool items, the parachute and flags would make great wall hangers. Are the jackets dated at all? Its neat to see the shift in colors through the war.

JohnnyConroe Posted June 29 Share #10 Posted June 29 Parachute is a rz20 or rz16 which appears to me complete and in good shape, although the black suspension lines are throwing me off. Still cool as heck! Love the German flag too! Kudos Nice score(s) and thanks for sharing!
