bschwartz Posted February 13 Share #1 Posted February 13 If you saw my other post on the main forum of the new Kodachrome images being released by the National Archives then you'll know where these came from. Two interesting period photos. The first being two WAFS in uniform with the Ferry Command logos on their uniforms. The pilot appears to be wearing an AC/FC pilot badge. Hard to see but if you really zoom in on the full size image you can see it. She is piloting and early model P-51. Here's the link to the full size image. And another interesting photo of a female pilot in an unknown to me uniform wearing a very interesting wing. I can't identify what it is but it's not one of the Ferry Command badges and it's not a WASP wing even one of the graduation pattern wings. I really have no clue what it is and I can zoom in on it but not with enough clarity to be able to identify it. It almost looks like a Flight Engineer wing center piece but I highly doubt that is what it is. She's standing in front of a P-47 with prop spinning. She's also in trouble since she's holding a yellow seat cushion that says "Do Not Remove From Airplane". Ha ha. Here's the link to the full size image. 5thwingmarty Posted February 13 Share #2 Posted February 13 I think the wing in the second photo is a 43-W-1 or 43-W-2 WASP wing.
