This was among my Dad's stuff. It appears to be a small piece of the aluminum skin from a downed Japanese plane. Judging by the paint color, any guesses as to what plane it was?

Apparently, according to a critique of the movie Pearl Harbor I recently read, the color of the attacking Japanese aircraft was not green, but actually an aluminum color.  The movie portrayed them as green, which the critique said was an error.  I'm not an expert on what color the planes were at PH.

It may have been a green zinc chromate primer but who knows?

The critique says this:  While Japanese-flown Mitsubishi A6M Zeros are known for their green paint job, they actually entered the Second World War sporting a much more muted grey tone – and one that didn’t react well to sunlight. It wasn’t until 1943 that the aircraft began being painted green.  Given this, the Zeros flown in Pearl Harbor should be grey. Instead, they’re painted green, which isn’t all that historically accurate.  Here's the link:  https://www.warhistoryonline.com/featured/pearl-harbor-movie-mistakes.html
