Korea Bridge of No Return

Recommended Posts

Having served many years ago in the Korean DMZ, with JSA, 1/9 and 2/9 I thought I would share two photos and see what you think. You can no longer access the area in the photos.

Notice where the two photos are taken. I one photo I am standing just behind the MDL sign and you can see the North Korean check point behind me. Remember, this is the "Bridge of No Return".

If I have the correct site?...

here are the coordinates for the bridge

 37°57'22.03"N 126°40'14.50"E

You can see it on google earth along with photos of how it looks now.

Even one with the same sign you are standing by. All overgrown.

I think its the same spot ?

In the google earth picture, the sign to the left looks like the original one in the first photo, just very aged.

Nice comparison photos!!

KSRick, Thats awesome! You're bundled up. Flak vest under the field jacket night vision...

And I'm guessing you carried live rounds on the DMZ? What else were you carrying?

Flares etc? Did you wear the winter mittens or black gloves?Must have been awesome being there.

Thanks for posting.
