Vahe Demirjian Posted February 8 Share #1 Posted February 8 A photo taken by me at the March Field Air Museum in December 2022 of a Soviet-made helmet worn by one of the servicemen of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) stationed in Grenada at the time of the US invasion of Grenada in October 1983: Since there were a total of 784 Cubans stationed in Grenada before the US invaded the island, of which 636 were airport construction workers, I'm curious as to how many helmets were seized from Cuban troops in Grenada by US forces in Grenada because Operation Urgent Fury marked the only time that the US military faced off against the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in a war (the ground forces division of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, like the pre-1959 Cuban Army, is a military force not used to offensive combat operations and thus is not a full-fledged standing army in a classical sense). pzjgr Posted February 8 Share #2 Posted February 8 That's cool, you don't see much as far as Grenada bring backs...but here is a thread I pisted featuring a "sterile" Soviet Afghanka that was issued to Cuban troops, and brought back by an 82nd Trooper... One is a hat, one is a helmet. Both bring backs from the same place. And personally, I've never seen any Grenada bring backs before, so thanks to both for posting. manayunkman Posted February 9 Share #5 Posted February 9 The big difference is that one hurts when you drop it on your toe. Very rare bring backs.
