Captured German flag in the P-38 hangar at the March Field Air Museum

I took this photo of a captured Nazi war flag (also the naval ensign of the Kriegsmarine) while inside the hangar of the March Field Air Museum containing the P-38 on August 3, 2019.

I took another photo of the same Nazi war flag in December 2022 from a different angle:

Given that the tag "Evil Defeated" appears above the captured Nazi war flag in photos and the flag itself is displayed underneath a wooden scaffolding in the hangar with the sign "474th Fighter Group" above it, maybe the P-38 crews of the 474th Fighter Group not only received captured Nazi war flags from soldiers of the US 1st Army but also recognized Adolf Hitler as evil not too long after the start of the European theater of World War II because in a conversation with members of his war cabinet in December 1942 about electrocuting Hitler to death in an electric chair to be supplied from the US via Lend-Lease if captured, Winston Churchill called Hitler "the mainspring of evil".

Very interesting.

The flag is upside down.

The 474th history shows they were stationed on the continent during  the war so there is a good chance they “captured” the flag.

I didn’t see the signatures, that makes sense.
