Question on M3 Flak Helmet

I am not super knowledgeable on helmets in general let alone flak helmets.  I just picked this one up and I was wondering if you guys could confirm it's authenticity.  Also do they all have an almost felt like finish on the exterior?

Yes, they have an anti frost coating (felt like) so your skin does not stick at freezing altitude. Your example is in excellent condition.
