I was told this is an area near Utah beach. There are different units marked on the map such as the 101st, and it is heavily marked with different notations and markings. Both are marked Top Secret Bigot as well as Neptune. I’ve seen pictures of D Day maps but none that have ever looked like these - is there a reason for this? Can anybody tell me more about what I have? Thank you! Here are some photos

Looks like they show traffic circulation for a divisions assembly area.

These maps are really cool. How did you acquire them?

This would have been the map of a higher ranking commissioned officer.

Hi Nick CT

I have annotated one of your maps for you,  Utah Beach runs all down the right hand-side of the sheet the top end being the village of Quineville.   Over on the left the black line would be the wartime version of the current N13 which runs from Cherbourg to Bayeux.  Cherbourg is off the top end of the sheet and Ste Mere Eglise is roughly at the bottom end of the sheet.

Hope this helps orientate the sheets for you.

Just realised for whatever reason the original poster hasn't been following this on the forum since February  !!!!.

Thank you so much for that info General! That’s amazing to know! I appreciate you taking the time to mark those locations for me.

I still follow this post and get emails about any new posts. This is one of my most favorite pieces I own of Militaria so I’m always eager to learn more about it.

Hi Nick,

Well the forum log-on seems to be in doubt, I also did another one for you but as it appeared you were off-line I didn't add it, here it is.  As you stated I also haven't seen any other maps with all this detail.pity they are not a little clearer I could probably add more detail if they were so.

Hi Nick,

About ten years ago I located the spot where the Navy Command post was on Utah beach,  note to the right of the command post there is a chimney over the back of the sand dunes, I found the same chimney which gave me the location of the CP on the beach.  At that same time I also found remains of sand bags or camouflage netting in the sand dunes.

I also made comparisons of the small Madelaine church just off Utah beach.  Both the command post and the small church Madelaine are on the right of your map in the first photo.

Apologies for the poor quality of the images,  when I posted these on the forum at that time the forum app used to compress the posted images and when enlarged again they pixelate.  The forum has since improved the app for posting photos.
