Hey everybody. Just joined and this is my first post.

I have this McKeever cartridge box and I'm trying to identify the type. I read through a thread under the Indian Wars section that had identifying information for the .45-70 and .50-70 boxes. I didn't see my box so I'm wondering if it's a later box that was designed for the .30-40 Krag.

It is stamped Rock Island, not Rock Island Arsenal. Inspectors mark looks likeimage000000(4).jpg.338a33b4766bfe28ffff84030c9e63ca.jpgimage000000(6).jpg.a95e554ff3dd52d05f4d482838e9fb1d.jpgimage000003(2).jpg.c399cc091876002ab188c55d407d0867.jpgimage000005.jpg.b27c7f698f37e2782ec2919b8592497f.jpgimage000000(5).jpg.19b989e63cd43e1c4ad523c832559281.jpgimage000004(5).jpg.a6e94ead4353b11145baed49ab496a16.jpg J.H.

Any help is appreciated.

I tried to edit my post but wasn't able to.

Inspector's mark appears to be J.H.

Thanks for any help.

You have the last 45-70 type which was produced starting in July 1884.  This is a type 6 with the Acorn Stud, no brass escutcheon, and the canvas webbing replaced with canvas duck.

Thank you very much.
