USMC_COLLECTOR Posted January 2 Share #1 Posted January 2 Looking like I need a pair of double buckle boots… are SMWHOLESALE boots the best or are there better ones out there? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
CavalryCombatant Posted January 2 Share #2 Posted January 2 I’ve got a pair of SMW M43s & love them; but I think the older ATF runs are better quality, based on friends who have them. I don’t reenact, but use mine for regular boots- the same way you’d wear any other heritage type boot. The big issue from a function standpoint is that the soles are too soft, and seem to wear out prematurely. I’m a year into them, and am guesstimating I have another year and a half before a resole. From a historical standpoint, the cuffs are also too short- and it’s a known issue. Not bad at first glance, but when side by side with an original it’s pretty clear. I’ve attached a photo of two boots I own (an original & my SMW ones). CC
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted January 2 Author Share #3 Posted January 2 Thank you. I’ve been wanting a pair of ATF but they’ve ran out. I’ll look into it though. 11 hours ago, CavalryCombatant said: I’ve got a pair of SMW M43s & love them; but I think the older ATF runs are better quality, based on friends who have them.
